A Doppleganger on the Iberian

Truly eerie similarities between the US and Portugal, per this morning's profile of the country in the Times. Here are the ones I spotted:

Portugal: Public debt 85 percent of GDP
US: Public debt 85 percent of GDP. 

Portugal: Debt set to increase as a result of rising unemployment and government spending on infrastructure projects, which President calls "investment, not spending."
US: Ditto

Portugal: 2009 deficit 9.3 percent of GDP.
US: 2009 deficit 9.9 percent of GDP.

And last but not least:

Portugal: Left-leaning president loses majority in most recent parliamentary elections.
US: ...
